“The pupils were spellbound”
Eloise conducts opera and singing workshops for schools and businesses, aimed at introducing opera in a fun and interactive style.
A typical school workshop includes: a summary of what an opera is; live performances of selected, well-known arias; discussion of emotions and how this is conveyed in the music, words and acting; discussion of the story behind an aria/opera; questions and answers throughout the workshop. Pupils are introduced to opera both in English and foreign languages, and are encouraged to reconnect to truly listening to the music and interpreting the body language to understand the emotional expression where words are not understood.
”The content was perfectly pitched for each of the three Key Stages...”
(feedback following a workshop at Putney Park School, Lower School)
Singing workshops introduce pupils to learning a simple piece of music in a foreign language (such as italian) in easy to follow steps, building confidence in pupils both in their singing and their ability to try another language.
In most cases, pupils usually discover they know more than they had realised, responding to the music and how it makes them feel, and the workshops encourage them to start or continue an appreciation of classical music and listening to all genres of music with a new understanding.
